Green Roofs

Green roofs are partially or completely covered with a growing medium and vegetation, positioned over a waterproofing membrane and may also include water retention, drainage and irrigation systems. Green roofs are categorised into:

Intensive

Extensive

More than 300mm of growing media, irrigation, with a wide variety of shrubs, grass and tree species on slopes up to 3%.

Less than 300mm of growing media, normally harsh growing conditions, minimal irrigation with hardy, low growing plant and ground cover species on slopes up to 30%.

Modular Green Walls

A modular green wall system offers architects and developers design flexibility to create both indoor and outdoor vertical green walls. The high strength modules, containing growing media and plants are lightweight, may be easily replaced to cater for design changes and allow for a range of growing media depth to cater for a wide plant selection.

Benefits

Green roofs and modular green walls are aesthetically, recreationally and environmentally rewarding as well as "value adding" to a wide range of commercial, residential and institutional buildings.

Benefits include reduced energy costs, improved sound insulation, reduced storm water run-off, a habitat for fauna and flora, reduced pollution and enable unattractive and heat absorbing roofs and walls to become environmentally sustainable structures.
